Venetian Water-Carrier was drawn with extremely delicate lines of drypoint.
PRINTING
It is very rare: only three impressions have been located. One is in black ink on off-white Asian laid paper (
), and two on ivory laid paper, one with a partial watermark of a shield (
) and the other with a partial 'KF' watermark (
). They were almost certainly printed in Venice. None are trimmed, but one impression is signed and inscribed by the artist 'JMcN Whistler / Venice / 80' (
).
