SALES & COLLECTORS

It was extremely rare. Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) owned an impression which he bought from Whistler's short-lived business outlet, the Company of the Butterfly in 1900 (). Howard Mansfield (1849-1938) had one by 1909 (). The other remained in Whistler's studio and was bequeathed to Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) who left it to the University of Glasgow ().
