TECHNIQUE

This is pure etching, with very small patches of jerky, irregular leaf shapes, larger irregular patches of zigzag shading and longer, nervous wavy lines indicating branches and the woman with the baby. The broken, widely spaced lines indicating the chateau in the background are more lightly etched.

PRINTING

Only one impression of Château de Bridoré is known (). It is printed in dark brown ink on ivory laid paper. It was trimmed to the platemark and signed with a butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler printed it.
