As with several of the 'Naval Review' copper plates, Bunting bears the oval stamp of 'HUGHES & KIMBER (LIMITED) / MANUFACTURERS / LONDON E.C.' (i.e. Dry Docks, Southampton 302,The Turret Ship 305, Troopships 307, Her Majesty's Fleet: Evening 310 and Tilbury 312).
The cancelled plate came with Whistler's estate to Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958), who gave it to the University of Glasgow in 1935. It was cancelled posthumously with a diagonal line across the lower left corner.
