Three states are known before cancellation.
State 1
Signed with a butterfly at upper right, on the wall of the house at right.
The composition is complete. There are three accidental drops of acid in the lower part of the plate.
State 2
Inscribed 'Gazette des Beaux-Arts' at lower left and 'Imp. Cadart.' at lower right.
The three splotches of acid have been removed.
A light, even plate tone has been printed on the paper, and the etched lines extend outside that.
