PRINTING
Less than ten impressions before cancellation have been located. The first state was printed in black ink on laid paper, two on cream paper, one watermarked 'DEDB' and beehive (), and the other, 'De Erven De Blauw' (), and another impression on ivory laid paper with the Arms of Amsterdam watermark (). Later impressions were also printed on watermarked laid paper. One on cream laid paper watermarked 'B / TH' in an elaborate circle is from an old book, with a Latin ink inscription on the verso () and two have 'De Erven De Blauw' watermarks (, ). 10
10: Chicago watermark 62; Spink 1998[more].
It was published in an album of Cancelled Plates ('Cancelled Set') by The Fine Art Society, London, 1879. Most impressions are from the cancelled plate. There may have been an edition of 20 or 24. These were printed in black ink on cream or ivory laid paper, some times with a partial 'Van Gelder' watermark in script (, , ).
