Old Hungerford Bridge dates from about 1861. It was etched on a copper plate from Hughes & Kimber, with a similar maker's stamp to those on two other plates of the Thames dated 1861, Millbank 078 and The Little Pool 079.
It is related to several other Thames views etched in 1861, including Vauxhall Bridge 075, Westminster Bridge in Progress 077 and Battersea Dawn (Cadogan Pier) 095.
Four of these Thames subjects - Millbank, The Little Pool, Early Morning, Battersea and Old Hungerford Bridge - were published in A Series of Sixteen Etchings of Scenes on the Thames (the 'Thames Set'), by Ellis & Green in 1871.
