Nude posing probably dates from 1874 or 1875.
It is dated stylistically (see Portrait sketches including F.R. Leyland and Whistler [122], Nude Reclining [126], Nude Girl with Arms Raised [115]) and from the copper plate, which bears a maker's stamp used from 1874 onwards ('HUGHES & KIMBER (LIMITED) / MANUFACTURERS / LONDON E.C.')
