Mh: the ink was dabbed on the plate but never wiped over the entire surface; rather, it was selectively wiped in the image area, with dark tone at the upper left, the face and torso wiped cleaner and the remainder of the plate with an intermediate shade of tone; with an inky plate mark at left.
